New Leaders Picnic - Honorees

1. Monty Cooper – while an associate with Wallace King Domike and Reiskin, PLLC specializing in litigation and arbitration of complex commercial cases, Monty also finds time to be an active community leader; he is a member of the SCLC, serves as a mentor of Mentoring to Manhood and is a member the MLK Foundation; Monty is a humble leader who is committed to supporting causes he believes in.

2. Lisa Peyton-Caire - Co-founder of K.L. Caire Companies, a Maryland-based corporation committed to empowering children and adults to lead healthy and productive lifestyles; advocate for education equality; founder of Next Generation Education Foundation; recently launched SisterSpeak Online magazine; mother of 5 children

3. Jason Jennings – strong proponent for financial literacy in our schools, Jason has served the community since high school through his church, the National Society of Black Engineers and the University of Maryland; he serves and wants to lead and recently ran for United States Congress in 2008

4. Walter Kirkland – originally from NYC, Walter has stepped on the scene in the county as a dynamic moderator and emcee for recent political events and debates, has been a member of the TV Radio Association for several years; was on BET for 2 years, leads his home owners association, and continues to be very active in the community

5. Rev. Joseph Kitchen – originally from California, Rev. Kitchen has become an active and committed community leader; he tackles issues head on and founded the largest chapter of Students Against Violence Everywhere in Fresno; his recent editorials have appeared in the Prince George’s Gazette and he continues to foster youth leadership and development as an officer in the Prince George’s County Young Democrats

6. NextGeneration Prince George’s (NGPG) – Members include: Monty Cooper, Omar Boulware, Jamal Miller, Brendon Laster, Martin Harris, Mel Franklin, Gregory Huckstep, Julius Williams and Earl Adams. (NGPG) is a group of young Prince Georgians who seek to promote the betterment of the county by encouraging knowledge-sharing and social/civic engagement; coming from various professional backgrounds – all are very active in their communities and the county.
