The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Foundation Inc.
of Prince George's County will fill a void that exists in this County
for nonprofit organizations. According to a recent study of Nonprofits
in Prince George's County by the Maryland Association of Nonprofits,
Prince George's County lags far behind neighboring counties when
it comes to nonprofit revenue per capita, distribution of nonprofits
by revenue level, and the spending by nonprofits serving children
and youth.
The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Foundation Inc. will
work to improve community outreach to the changing demograhics in
our County. There has been an influx of residents from different
states, cultures, racial and ethnic backgrounds. And, today while
Prince George's County has close to 850,000 residents and boasts
of being the most affluent County in the nation for African Americans,
the school system remains at the bottom in the state, car thefts
is one of the highest in the nation and we have the highest foreclosure
rate in the state. How could this happen when we live in the richest
state in the nation?
The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Foundation, Inc.
of Prince George's County is the solution to that challenge. Through
programs, partnerships, grants, innovations and technology, the
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Foundation, Inc. of Prince George's County
will tackle these issues head on. |
